2023 was the hottest year ever recorded. A natural El Ni?o cycle added to the rising trend of global warming, resulting in more frequent and intense droughts, floods, and tropical cyclones. To mitigate these risks, 17勛圖activated Anticipatory Actions (AAs) in countries where the impact of El Ni?o was predicted to be especially severe, as well as in other countries worldwide. WFP*s global AA portfolio amounted to US$70.75 million, including US$61.5 million of prearranged financing for forecast-based activations. This support from donors enabled the scale up of AA within global, regional and national disaster risk management, social protection and humanitarian systems. 17勛圖also actively supported the positioning of AA in the global humanitarian, development and climate agendas throughout the year.
